MDF The BiPolar Organisation e-Community
Welcome to the e-Community. This provides an opportunity to communicate with others on a wide range of topics related to living with bipolar. The community is made up of a series of message boards with various topics and also includes a 'general discussion' board for threads on topics not related to bipolar. Anyone using the e-Community who is under the age of 18 should do so with parental consent.
You must register to access the e-Community. Note that registration is free and only takes a second. Please read the information below before registering & for information concerning the Data Protection Act & The Freedom of Information Act.

Data Protection Act & The Freedom of Information Act
The Data Protection Act (DPA) sets out circumstances that releases MDF from our duty of confidentiality. There is provision in the processing conditions of the DPA that allows personal data to be processed. There is also provision within the Act that exempts MDF from some of its requirements where it is necessary to disclose data for the purpose of the prevention or detection of a crime.
The decision making for any disclosure of data will take place on a case by case basis, and justification for disclosure will be recorded so that it can be traced back if questioned.
There may be particular circumstances where personal data may be released to the relevant authorities. e-Community users must be are aware of this scenario before they write anything within the e-Community.

e-Community guidelines for use
Before proceeding, please read the following guidelines on the use of the e-Community. We want the boards to be a positive, safe and supportive place and in registering to participate you agree to adhere to these rules and guidelines.
- The e-Community welcomes contributions from anyone affected by bipolar disorder, including family-members partners and friends of people with bipolar.
- MDF The BiPolar organisation provides the e-Community in order to facilitate an exchange of support, experiences, opinions and ideas, and the site should not be used for other purposes.
- The views expressed in the e-Community are those of the original author and not MDF The Bipolar Organisation.
- Please remember, the e-Community is openly accessible to anyone who registers. When registering, we recommend that you use a nickname rather than your real name and avoid posting personal details such as your real name, e-mail address or telephone number.
