Self Management Training Programme

Programme
The programme aims to teach the individual with bipolar disorder how to recognise the triggers for, and warning signs of, an impending episode of illness. Participants learn to take action to prevent or reduce the severity of an episode. The programme, which is delivered in various formats and in location all over the UK is continuously improved and updated as participants provide us with feedback and details of their experiences.
The programme is based on a six module course (outlined below). There are fourteen participants on each programme and two facilitators. Both facilitators will themselves have the diagnosis.
We are currently working with Mental Health Foundation to deliver 30 self-management courses in Wales commencing March 2009. This programme is funded by Big Lottery Fund Wales. Courses will be delivered in Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Llandudno, Newport, Rhyl, Swansea and Wrexham. If you live in Wales and want to attend a course please call Michael Grinter on 020 7793 2620
